It’s the last week of July and Oktoberfest is on my mind.   I have one week to finalize sponsorships, need to look at merchandise and get that ordered and the coolest, we have to do a wine and beer tasting so we can select the best for our attendees.   There are days when I LOVE my job!!!   Seriously, how many times do YOU get to be called into a meeting where different beer and wine reps are waiting?

I love Oktoberfest – I really do.   The weather is usually fantastic, the leaves are changing, and people are having fun and celebrating, knowing that this festival is the last big outdoor event of the season and soon, everyone will be celebrating the snow!   I always enjoy the children’s area, where kiddos receive a free root beer float thanks to our great partners, I love to see them running around the park and being kids.   I enjoy seeing the families walk around and visiting all our craft vendors, eating a brat, sitting in the grass, and listening to music.   Of course we have a lot of beer at Oktoberfest – after all, what is an Oktoberfest without beer?   But what I’m most proud of at Oktoberfest is the strong feeling of community at the festival.   Whether a long time local, a student, or a tourist who just stopped by to see what the hoopla is all about, the Flagstaff Oktoberfest reflects the warmth, fun and attitude that makes Flagstaff unique.   What other event in town will you find college students trying to hold up water filled beer steins, while a knitting group is sitting in front laughing and talking, and families are meeting up while their small children are running around the kid’s area?

So, mark your calendars for October 1st and come on down to Wheeler Park.   Admission is a whopping $5, with free -readmission and enjoy Flagstaff’s Funnest Fall Festival!
