Okay, I’ll admit it. Before planning Mountain Country Music Festival, I wasn’t really a fan of country music. The stylized country twang, the cowboy hats, the tractors—it really just never appealed to me.
But then, the festival managed to snag Dallas Smith as its headliner. Listening to him became less of an intern chore and more of something I actually enjoyed. His songs are fun, yet laid-back. They remind me sitting by the pool, sipping cocktails with friends on a hot summer day. Maybe country music is really more about the fun, easy-going attitude than it is about the cowboy hats and tractors.
Flagstaff deserves its own country music festival. We are a laid-back and fun city, and country music is just what we need to end the summer with a bang. I know I’m actually looking forward to this event (something I would have never said in my “I hate country music days”). I especially look forward to seeing Dallas Smith as our headliner. It’s going to be a great show!
