It’s October already!  OH MY!

I have a very bad habit of immediately going to Thanksgiving and Christmas when fall hits, and trying to figure out who will be where and if I’m cooking or buying plane tickets.   Well, not this year mister – NOPE – I’m going to take my holidays one at a time and enjoy all the time I have in between.  And my first holiday of the fall season is none other than OKTOBERFEST!!!!!

I really do enjoy Oktoberfest!   It is the most laid back festival we produce – polka bands don’t have riders!!!!   It’s also one of the most beautiful of all our festivals.   Wheeler park on a sunny fall day with the turning leaves drifting down upon the tables, the smell of brats and cider in the air, and the sound of Big Willie and the Polka Meisters just seems like the perfect way to greet fall and kiss summer goodbye.

So many new things at this Oktoberfest!   I was looking at the layout with all the wonderful vendors we have – this is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!!   Jennifer came up with some of the most fun and creative merchandise this year!   We will have the softest long sleeve shirts, they are absolutely yummy to wear, and since we’re benefiting the ski and snowboarding team, she thought ear warmers would be cute – duh!!!!   And then, probably because I turn to butter when I see a baby and her friends let me love on those babies whenever I want, she ordered onesies!!!!!   I’m not kidding – my first Oktoberfest onesies!!!!   Oh and then she took our logo and had stickers made!!!   She brought me my long sleeved T-shirt, but she forgot my sticker – which of course I’ll be proudly displaying.   So, when you come, stop by the merchandise and info tent and check out all the fun stuff!

We’ve also changed out the round tables for long tables like in Munich!   OH – and we’ve added another contest!!!   So, in addition to the yodeling, costume, brat eating and stuff the bug contests, we’re adding a beer stein holding contest!   NO – we’re not wasting beer on your weak arm muscles – they will be filled with water, but it should be fun to see how long people can hold those steins filled to the brim without spilling a drop!

I invite everyone to come out and enjoys Oktoberfest in Wheeler Park this Saturday!   Gates open at 10:45 and the festivities begin at 11:00 and we won’t stop until 8 pm!   Come out and celebrate fall and the last festival of the season in Wheeler!
