As an intern at Peak Events, I feel so blessed and appreciative for being chosen for this position. This internship has not only helped me grow as a student but has solidified my career goals. Though my internship will continue into the fall I have learned so much already.
In spring 2013 I was coming to the end of my Disney College Program and was going to be moving back to Flagstaff. I knew that I wanted to get experience in events and wedding planning so, I Googled every event planner in the area and scrutinized each website. In the end I loved everything about Peak Events. I emailed Jennifer Grogan and told her I wanted to be her intern thinking it was a long shot that I would hear back but a few weeks later I was back in town and sitting at Starbucks with Jen and Debbi!
I have a lot of experience with concerts but not so much planning an entire event. After the first event, Flagstaff Blues and Brews, I already knew I would love it. Yes, I did have to spend a day putting hand bills in every hotel in town (I mean someone has to do it), but I also got to see how to interact with sponsors and vendors, how to manage a staff, and how to produce a smooth running event.
I have been given the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills that are necessary to succeed in this industry. The best part is I am fortunate enough to learn these things from people, who are interested in my success, and work as a team. I could write an entire blog about this but what it boils down to is if you live in Northern Arizona (or even if you don’t) and you want an unforgettable event or wedding experience Peak Events is THE place to go.
