This past semester was my first with Peak Events and I learned so much over this time. I am currently studying event management at NAU and was super eager and interested to learn about the entire process of putting on an event. The Flagstaff Oktoberfest was my first on hand experience in planning, organizing and promoting a festival and it exceeded all my expectations. Each week I was given a different specific task that I was responsible for and it was cool seeing these duties play a part in the success of the event. I feel that my biggest takeaway from my internship so far has been discovering the behind the scenes tasks that are needed to put on an amazing event. In the event industry, there are lots of small details and nuances that I was unaware of that needed to be acknowledged or completed. I loved being able to discover these details such as how to communicate with vendors, where and when to use certain promotional tactics and how to delegate tasks within a team. I will be sure to take all of them with me for the Flagstaff Blues and Brews Festival, Peak Event’s next big festival!
