This was my second year working Blues and Brews. My first day working for Peak was set-up for Blues and Brews last year. There was a noticeable difference in the way I worked this year compared to last year. Now, I know how the festival works, and for the most part I know what Jen needs done. I was able to help direct other girls when they didn’t know what to do and I was able to find tasks to complete when I had finished things that Jen had asked me to do.
Set up was easy and fun, and went by quickly this year. The fencing, stage, and tent rental companies showed up really early this year and the festival took shape so much earlier than expected. We set a lot of stuff up, had our lunch break, and then went back to work. I helped stage vendors again. I love working with people and being in customer service roles, so greeting and placing vendors is a great role for me!
The next day was event day. The team showed up bright and early again. I got my walkie talkie and the vendor book and got set up to stage the last of our vendors. All of the vendors were set up and had their cars off the lawn before 10am, which was amazing!
I went over to the merchandise tent to get set up and ready to sell Blues memorabilia.
Merchandise was fun because it was guest centered and I got to talk to a lot of people. It was fast paced and made the time go by quickly. There were some issues when it came to volunteers for merchandise, but the team helped me get everything worked out, and the event ran smoothly! I was in a good location because I could hear the music well, and even got to watch the special guest walk by as they performed!
I always enjoy working events with Peak. They keep me busy and I have so much fun helping plan and execute these events. I don’t know where I’ll be next June, but I’m hoping that I can come back to Flagstaff to help with Blues again!
