Finding a job for after college can be a scary and a nerve racking experience. It’s dealing with a lot of the unknown and not being in control of what will happen. I knew that I had to put in some work in order to find a job. I knew that the Spring HRM Career Fair was coming up soon and that this would be my chance to get an in with companies. Before going into the career fair I decided to do my research about the different companies and the opportunities they could offer me. On the day of the career fair I talked to multiple different companies and also had an interview. The company I had an interview with was Aramark. Aramark is an American food service, facilities, and uniform services provider to clients in fields. I didn’t know very much about the company, but I had a few friends who accepted offers with the company too. I had an in person interview, then I had to fill out an application, and then I was called for a position that included another interview. I was originally offered an HR position which is something I wasn’t necessarily interested in or a position that I knew a lot about. After being offered the HR position I decide to think about it and I decided to do a second interview for the position. When I was called for my second interview I was expecting to talk more about HR, but that was when the tables turned. She asked me what I wanted to do and she ended up offering me an opportunity in a completely different position. I was given the opportunity to work in events while also being able to learn new skills in a new field. I accepted an offer with Aramark as the Operations Associate Manager at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Fransisco. I am so honored to be given this opportunity and I can’t wait to see where this journey will take me. I am excited to move onto the next step in my life and be able to grow my passion for events. I can’t wait for my new adventure!
