Ever since I became an intern with Peak Events about 10 months ago, I have heard many different things about Blues & Brews. From what to expect, to the size, and the differences between it and Oktoberfest. But I don’t think anything could have really prepared me for the actual thing. A few days before the festival, we went out to the driving range, so we could become a little more familiar with the space. I knew that it was going to be a lot bigger than Oktoberfest, but it was just SO much bigger. I was a little bit in shock of the size. Of course that day, it was just a giant patch of grass, so it was even harder to imagine what the festival would look like. On the day before the event, we watched as the giant patch of grass turned into something pretty incredible. By the end of that day, there was fencing, tents, a stage, vendor booths, food trucks, everything imaginable to create the perfect summer festival. The next day, very early in the morning when we arrived, there was even more set up than the night before. Looking at it then, I couldn’t believe that I had doubted that Jen and Mom were going to turn this space into something so amazing. For most of the event, I was working at the volunteer booth. This booth was relatively far away from most of the festival. Throughout the day, I heard all of the different musicians and bands playing, and I got to hear from tons of people and the volunteers about how great the festival was. I think that was my favorite part of the whole festival; everyone was in such a good and happy mood, despite the heat and the sun. But how could they not be when they had such great music playing right in front of them, surrounded by awesome people? Overall, Blues & Brews was a really great experience with Peak Events. And knowing that I still have two years working with Jen and Mom only makes me more excited for the coming festivals and events that I will get to learn from with them!
