Winter is always my favorite time of year. I love all of the decorations and I love being able to go home and spend time with my family. Except this break was different than all other because I was given the amazing opportunity to go to Israel. Through the wonderful organization called Birthright I was able to spend 10 fabulous days in Israel for free. I think it is so amazing that I am able to travel to Israel for free just because of my religion. Going into the trip I was nervous because Israel isn’t really the safest country, but I knew in my gut that everything would be ok. Also, I felt better that I would be going through this with my best friends. There were so many different things that we did while we were there. We went hiking, rode camels, traveled to multiple cities, went to the western wall, hiked Masada, and went to the Dead Sea. It hard for me to choose a favorite thing that we did, but it would probably be when we rode camels. I definitely made many memories and friendships. The hardest part of leaving Israel was missing the difference in culture and I also didn’t want to get back on the plane, because we would be flying for a day! I was defiantly very jetlagged when I got back considering that it was an 11 hour time change between Israel and California. I can’t believe it has been a month since I got back and I miss it already. I look forward to going back to Israel soon and for now I will cherish my memories.
