Planning my first event was a big step in the direction of being where I want to be in terms of a career. Setting up for a big festival like Blues and Brews is some of the hardest work I’ve ever done. Experiencing first hand just how much preparation and planning goes into this festival, was very beneficial to my education. Being a part of the staff, I got to experience everything hands on, and I firmly believe that is the best way to learn.
Every Intern was given a task. These tasks included being in charge of volunteers, ticket sales, or in my case social media. I consider myself a social media fanatic, so this job was perfect for me. I was able to see the impact social media makes. Spreading the word, interacting with attendees, and capturing the festival’s best moments all made a difference in the festival, and I was extremely lucky to be a part of it.
