Apparently there are a great number of people who have never attended a music festival. While I find this very odd, I also understand that many people have misconceptions about what actually happens at festivals and that’s why I’m going to try and explain what to expect.
The first thing that I think of when I think of music festivals is fun. It seems as though only happy and fun people attend music festivals. So, if you’re a fun and happy person – you should go. If you’re a sad and miserable person, then come and witness how everyone else enjoys life and maybe you can pick up some pointers.
The second thing you must remember about a festival is that it’s not a concert. In other words, there are no assigned seats and you can talk, stand, dance, shop, move around, eat and visit while listening to some really fun bands that you may not have heard in the past.
The third thing is that it’s casual. No need to buy a new dress, new shoes – just come comfortable in loose fitting clothes (it is summer and will be warm), and try to bring a hat – something to keep the sun off your face.
Fourth – It’s outside!!! So, no need to go into a dark bar to listen to some great bands, just sit outside in your own chair, on your blanket and drink some beers, eat some great food and listen to music that will make you smile!
Kids are welcome! So many people feel that festivals are not fun for kids! Well, that’s just wrong and we believe kids should 12 and under should be free! Of course kids have fun – we have a great kid’s area for them to play in, they can sit in the grass with fresh lemonade and listen to music with you and they can dance better than most adults – so kids are always welcome.
And my absolute favorite thing to do at a festival? Visit all the vendors and sponsor booths! Shopping for cool shirts and hats, jewelry, winning chips at the Cliff Castle Casino tent, trying to win gas cards from the Hallum Store Tents, trying to win an autographed poster, tickets to Sinbad or even a signed guitar from Ear Candy – its’ all fun and it’s a great time. You can’t win if you don’t play and you can’t play unless you have a ticket to get into the festival! Buy your tickets today at FlagstaffBlues.com!
