I was one of those freaky kids that asked for piano lessons. I mean I REALLY wanted piano lessons. Unfortunately, my dad was a civil engineer, working on building Arizona roads and we moved every school year. Now that I’m older, I understand why we couldn’t be moving a piano around every 9 months or so, and I also have the ability to purchase a piano – which I did. My parents, however, recognized my love for music and figured a clarinet would have to suffice. After all, I was a pretty small kid and carrying a larger instrument probably would have been difficult, and I liked the clarinet. But what I loved the most of all, was that it didn’t matter where we moved, or how many times we moved, the clarinet stayed constant. No matter where we lived, every school in the 60s had an orchestra or band and while the sheet music may have changed, the notes were always played the same and I always fit in. When you’re a kid moving from town to town following I-40 or I-17, having something in common with other kids was a lifesaver.
So, all these years later, I own an event planning company and the one thing I love most about Peak Events – are the music festivals. I loved Rock the House, Oktoberfest Bands and now the Flagstaff Blues and Brews. What I love even more???? Ear Candy is our benefiting charity for the First Annual Flagstaff Blues and Brews! I honestly cannot think of a better fit for our Festival. Ear Candy is an Arizona Charity, poised to go national, only 5 years old and yet, opening the musical instrument doors for thousands of kids in the Phoenix area. And, with the Flagstaff Blues and Brews, they will be able to open doors for kids in Flagstaff as well. You see Ear Candy works with the local schools and puts much needed instruments into the hands of kids. If a child’s family is having a hard time finding an affordable instrument – Ear Candy comes to the rescue. In their short 5 years – they’ve helped over 15,000 students. Peak Events is PROUD to partner with Ear Candy on the First Annual Flagstaff Blues and Brews and all the great years to come to get instruments into the hands of students throughout the northland. Welcome Aboard Ear Candy – we are so excited to partner with you for many years to come and help Arizona make Beautiful Music!
