It started out that women were “crafty”, then it evolved into “creative”, then came DIY Bride, but now it’s full on PINTEREST!  We had our first Pinterest wedding this past August and I must say I am amazed on how crafty these creative DIY brides can be once they get a taste of Pinterest!

Peak Events is on Pinterest, and thank goodness we have a couple of people on the team that love to browse through all the boards, following people, happy when people follow us, but I have to say – I just don’t get it.  I have gone through the boards and have enjoyed what other people have pinned, but as I get older, I am very stingy with my time.

That being said, I did enjoy our first Pinterest wedding, mainly because I was blown away by what this bride and her mother did.  Like most women, I enjoy creative outlets, but this creativity was on the “professional” level.   These women had boxes upon boxes of decorations they had been making for months and when it all showed up at the wedding site, it took three of us six hours to get everything decorated and ready for the wedding.   The event was stunning and even though it was a rustic wedding at the Nordic Center, there was a beautiful sense of elegance underlying every detail.

I’m not against DIY weddings, nor am I against Pinterest weddings, however, in my opinion you have two options.  You can either add one or two little personal touches to your wedding from Pinterest that you work on for a few weeks, or you can go full on in.  Don’t do it just half way.  This bride knew what she wanted and was willing to put in ALL the time it took to make it look spectacular.   DIY is great if you know your talents and are committed to putting in the time needed.
