As much as we at Peak Events love creating imaginative non-floral centerpieces, sometimes only flowers will do. So the question is how does one incorporate fresh, beautiful flowers when your event budget is already strained? You’d be amazed what you can save by following these suggestions…

  1. Know what’s in season.  A flower in season is usually half the cost of one that’s out of season. If you’re not sure what’s in, you can check out www.freshroses.com for a good month-to-month list of in-season florals.
  2. Pick a color instead of a flower.  Let your florist know your color palette and then give him a budget. Let him pick the arrangement components. Just be sure to tell him that the cost of delivery must also be included.
  3. Pick a flower and stick with it. Since florists buy flowers by the dozen, they may have to charge you more for mixed arrangements. Arrangements containing a single type of flower will give your event a contemporary, cohesive feel.
  4. Choose a big bloom. Many florists charge you per stem, so pick one that will take up some space. Hydrangeas and dahlias are always good picks. (In season, of course!)
  5. Take a minimalist approach. One or two ornate blooms floating in glass bowl will add drama to your event without making a painful dent in your budget.
