It’s time to hit the water, whether the creek in Sedona, the waves of Lake Powell or the shores of Lake Mary just outside of Flagstaff. During the toasty days of summer, the breeze coming in off the water can make the heat of the sun practically obsolete.
The shores of Arizona’s bodies of water are perfect for family outings (maybe even a reunion or two, and maybe we could even put it all together for you!), not to mention barbeques and picnics, tanning, and letting the dogs run wild. Even if you’re just visiting Northern Arizona for a conference or a friend’s wedding, take an extra day and spend it out by the water. If it doesn’t take away some stress and help you relax even a little bit… well then, I don’t think anything will!
My favorite place to venture to when the heat is getting to me is the creek in Sedona. Only a hop skip and a jump away from Flagstaff, it’s perfect for someone that loves the sound of flowing water and doesn’t want to spend a boatload on gas to find it. Although the popular destination point is known as Slide Rock, there’s a number of pools all along the creek perfect for bringing along a floatie and a sandwich. I always come home slightly tanner, probably a little burnt and with some very wet dogs!
If your friends are in town, if you’re looking for a good way to spend a day or a place to host an event, look where there’s water, you’ll enjoy every minute of it!
Have a lovely week!
