Take two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, 2 fun siblings, 2 fantastic sets of parents and place them all at the Flagstaff Nordic Center and you get one of the best weddings I’ve ever planned.  On July 24th, I had the honor of coordinating a great wedding at the Nordic Center.  Darlene’s colors were yellow, grey and cream and when it all came together in the middle of the meadow it was stunning.  We took cream linens and layered grey runners on the tables and added the most subtle of flowers – yellow daises to make it a casual yet elegant affair.  The food was delicious and from – who else – Simply Delicious.  Family and friends were treated to the spectacular beauty of the San Francisco Peaks and being in the middle of a meadow that most people could never imagine.   The couple chose to not have dancing, however, their family members stepped up with their own rendition of “When I’m 64”.

I think this wedding was a perfect example of two people who were very busy with two very demanding careers and although they wanted to share the day with their family and friends, they were new to town and honestly didn’t have the time to poke around looking for vendors and planning a wedding.  Both were a tad hesitant at first, however, once they realized they had someone who had their best interests in mind, they began to see the value of having Peak Events at the wedding.  Both had parents out of town and had only lived in Flagstaff a few months, but they fell in love with the beauty of Northern Arizona and wanted their family and friends to experience it firsthand.   The weather could not have been more perfect, nor the scenery more beautiful and I to admit it was fun to look at my backyard through the eyes of first timers.

Weddings should reflect the couple and this couple was adamant that this be a laid back, fun and easy going wedding.  The bride walked down the aisle to Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles and after their vows which they had written themselves; there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.  Darlene and Robert were the perfect example of keeping true to their vision, while still caring about the needs of their guests.  As we were leaving, Robert pulled me aside and said “This was exactly what we wanted, Thank you.”  It doesn’t’ get any better than that!
