Its been almost a month since our last post, and yes I know we all need to be better on that. What a difference a month makes! Last time I wrote it was snowing, and now is SUMMER! Summer has officially arrived in Flagstaff, and EARLY. If any of you readers have lived in Flagstaff for at least 3 years, you know 80 degrees in May is just unheard of. Its usually about 60 degrees with 50 mph winds and the occasional snow storm. So to see trees blooming, flowers blooming and birds and just life coming back is amazing. I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place, which is probably why I’ve never wanted to leave. That and I am very close to my family.
So let’s see some of you may know our wedding coordinator, Christina from Planet Beach. We hate that she has to work there, but she needs to pay the bills! Hopefully next year we’ll be able to pay her! Christina has been a very busy girl, not only is she working full time at Planet Beach, but she is planning Robbie and Sandy’s wedding. Then she has started to take on her bosses (from Planet Beach) wedding. And it looks like we’ve got TWO meetings with potential brides for next year. So the weddings are slowly coming in, but the fact is they are coming in, all thanks to Christina! We also recently joined the Northern Arizona Wedding Specialist Group. Everyone has been great, and so helpful. Its a wonderful group, and we will be putting on a Bridal Happy Hour for all brides around town. Please check out that blog for more information, you can find a link from the groups blog at http://naweddingspecialists.blogspot.com/.
Let’s see, our next event is the tax conference this June here in Flagstaff. That event seems to be running smoothly and with all the help from the group putting it on, we really aren’t even needed. We will be attending the golf portion of the event to make sure the golfers are happy and get off to a good start!
Then we have our Rock the House event benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Flagstaff. We are working on the application to the city of Flagstaff, just a couple of things need to be wrapped up on that. We are starting to look at logistics and what we need to rent. Robert from Purple Mountain Productions has been working so hard on getting us an amazing lineup! Please stay tuned for the listing of bands! We are currently working on a logo for the event, so if anyone out there is a graphic designer, please email me! Then we will start ordering shirts, and hats and so on! We do need volunteers for the event, so if you are interested in volunteering, being a food or craft vendor or sponsoring the event, check out our website at http://www.flagstaffhabitat.org/Rockthehouse.html
Then the following weekend is the Native American’s Program Golf Tournament. Things are moving right along. We are getting ready to send out letters to past sponsors, potential new sponsors, past golfers and so on. We need to get moving on getting FABULOUS prizes for the tournament. And hopefully this year we will be able to raise a lot of MUCH needed money for those scholarship programs!
Then there is the 2nd annual Flagstaff Oktoberfest! We are moving so smoothly on this event its a little scary. We have decided to partner with Second Chance Shelter for Animals and benefit them. Nackard Beverage Company is presenting the event as our TITLE sponsor. We are inviting many pet related vendors to attend the event. We are still looking for wiener dogs for our first wiener dog race! Its going to be a pet friendly event, so please bring your pooch! Oh and the music! We’ve got an amazing lineup, we will be kicking off the event with Big Willie and the Polka Meisters, followed by Brian Benham, Ricky Ray, Foot Solejah’s, the wonderful Buzzard Brothers and closing the night out Big Willie and the Polka Meisters. So mark your calendars now, October 3rd in Wheeler park, a wonderful day filled with music, food and of course BEER!
Peak Events is also working on a LARGE festival for June 2010! Stay tuned for more details.
Have a great weekend and get out and enjoy this great Flagstaff weather!
