I realized this week that I’m over-committed. I need to start getting off some of the boards, committees and learn to say the word NO!   There are so many incredible causes and so many wonderful people out there and when they ask me to be involved, I don’t want to let anyone down – if I could figure out a way to never sleep – I might have a chance.   With Peak Events, I truly enjoy our corporate events and the people I get to know and work with are amazing, but when we do festivals, we make a difference in Flagstaff and in our community.   Flagstaff Blues and Brews raises money for music in schools!   I love music on such a basic level. I NEED music, I play it daily and not just Blues, but alternative, rock, jazz, Celtic, and the list goes on and on. Then there is the Flagstaff Oktoberfest where we raise funds for the Flagstaff Ski Club – and before you go all hoity toity on me and tell me how these are the rich people in town – DON’T!   70% of their members are on scholarship which means they give kids a chance to experience the beauty of our mountain as well as learn a great sport.   Mountain Country Music Festival will raise money for the Military Order of the Purple Heart.   These guys don’t hold big fundraisers, and yet they quietly help out our veterans with the most needs.   Everything from help with food and rent, help with transportation to the VA hospital, the list goes on and on and these guys never stop.   So, while many of us are over committed, I’m asking you to go to www.FlagstaffCountry.com and check out a really nice way to spend an afternoon and help our Veterans.
